Gael Clichy’s short term memory

Posted on July 5, 2011 by

Gael Clichy became the 65th left back on Manchester City’s books as he signed this week for 7m from Arsenal. And proves that two years is a VERY LONG TIME in football, especially for those with short memories.

Clichy in 2009…

“If you really believe you are a player who thinks only about money then you could end up at Manchester City”

Clichy desperately trying to backtrack in 2011 (after signing for Citeh)

“ As a team, you need a big squad to go all the way, that’s why I joined City: because I want to win things. You always progress with competition. It’s going to be difficult – a new life, a new club – but I can’t wait. Anything is possible with this team. Last year was a big year for them, or for ‘us’, and I just hope we keep on progressing. It’s impossible to say where we could finish.”

Clichy will be competing with Wayne Bridge, Jerome Boateng, Aleksander Kolarov and Joleon Lescott for a place in the City team.

Still, I bet the money isn’t too shabby eh Gael?
