Backing teams with confidence at this early stage in the Gambrinus Liga is very difficult. Last weekend Brno shocked Slovacko with a 1-0 win and Slavia Praha’s 3-3 draw with newly promoted Jihlava illustrates this point perfectly.
Although we are just a week into the season we can draw some conclusions from the previous round of games.
Conclusion: Slovacko are a troubled team and new Slavia coach PetrRada looks like Cotton Hill.
This brings me on nicely to the best bet this weekend. Sigma Olomouc to beat Slovacko, Tipsport have priced them up at 1.60, not a price to retire on, however it seems pretty safe to me.
Olomouc already saw off Liberec in the Czech Super Cup and were unlucky to lose against Ceske Budejovice last week. The red card and 64th minute penalty did not help their cause.
Olomouc play their first home game of the season against a Slovacko side, who, in Libor Došek’s own words “played football without movement or surprises and we were really pitiful” against Brno.
I would be very surprised if Slovacko take anything from their trip to Olomouc.
Elsewhere, the usual suspects should rack up wins – and their respective prices reflect this – Viktoria Plzen travel to Jihlava and Sparta host Pribram. But I have a sneaky feeling it could be a tricky game for Plzen who a fresh off a trip from tough away game in the Europa League. Best avoid.
I also have doubts over Mlada Boleslav against Ceske Budejovice this weekend. The hosts have had terrible luck with injuries losing Jan Chramosta, Adrian Rolko and Michal Smejkal for lengthy spells.
Boleslav also have to recover from their midweek trip to the Netherlands where they lost 2-0 to FC Twente and it’s worth taking the odds of 2.29 for Boleslav NOT to win (draw and Ceske Budejovice).
Both prices are with tipsport.cz.
