Sport-fotbal-první-Ostrava-Baroš-2

There were 1-0 victories for two Prague sides last night. Dukla overcame Pribram 1-0 and Slavia finally managed to win away from home against Brno. Hurrah! Anyways, here are my thoughts on todays action.

Banik Ostrava v Hradec Kralove – 3pm

Ostrava have yet to win a game with Milan Baros back at the club, posting consecutive draws against České Budějovice and then a highly credible 1-1 with top of the table Viktoria Plzeň last weekend.

But the visit of Hradec Kralove should be the perfect opportunity for Baros, who shaved off his beard for the game, and Banik to get their first win of the spring. The visitors are really up against it this season and have yet to win away from home.

I was surprised to see Banik odds against, an excellent price. If they are to avoid the drop and pull clear of the relegation zone then Ostrava should really be winning these games.

RECOMMENDATION: Banik Ostrava to win at 21/20

Slovan Liberec v České Budějovice – 4pm

I have a good feeling about Liberec and the spring campaign. Although I fear it’s too late for them to make inroads into third place and the European spot it would be nice to see last seasons champions finish in the top five at least.

The visitors have failed to score in their last three outings whilst Liberec have mustered just one goal in the same period. Everything points towards Under 2.5 Goals, but, unfortunately for the Svijany fund, the bookmakers agree too and the price of 4/7 (1/2 in places) looks too skinny to get involved in.

Liberec should have enough about them to win the game but I wouldn’t want to play at the current prices.

RECOMMENDATION: No Bet

Sigma Olomouc v Jihlava – 5:40pm

Olomouc are hard on the heels on third placed Jablonec and know a victory here will see them jump into third place and the coveted European spot. Two wins out of two since returning from the winter break and they look good to make it three on the spin against a Jihlava side who have scored just one goal in their last FIVE games.

Again, much like the Liberec v Budějovice game , the price on a home win is shorter than Danny DeVito and leaves me looking elsewhere for better value. Instead I think the 10/1 on offer on a 3-0 home win looks tempting and is worth a speculative punt.

It would be a shame to see all of Jihlava’s hard work unravel after such a bright start to the season but I would be surprised if they take anything at all from Saturday’s game.

RECOMMENDATION: Sigma Olomouc 3-0 Jihlava – 10/1
